Introduction
Your thesis chapter is in your email, your assignment is in Google Drive and your laptop is at home. Until now, checking that document for plagiarism meant waiting until you were back at a computer. The Red Paper Android app removes that wait. It puts a plagiarism checker and an AI detector on your phone, so you can check a PDF or Word file from wherever it is saved and get a notification when the report is ready.
The app is now live on Google Play as Red Paper Plagiarism Checker. It works with your existing Red Paper account, uses the same detection engine as the website, and gives you the same three outputs: a plagiarism (similarity) report, an AI-content report and a certificate of originality.
Why Use a Plagiarism Checker App?
The website works well when you are at a desk. A plagiarism checker app helps in the moments when you are not:
- Your files are already on your phone. Documents that arrive by email or WhatsApp, or sit in Google Drive, can be picked straight from the phone without moving them to a computer first.
- You do not have to watch the screen. Start a scan, lock your phone and get on with your day. A notification tells you when the report is done.
- Your reports go where you go. Recent reports open even without a connection, so you can show a similarity score to a supervisor or client in a meeting.
Many mobile apps that call themselves plagiarism checkers only check a few lines of pasted text against a web search. Red Paper checks whole documents and gives you the same downloadable reports you get on the website plagiarism checker.
Key Features
Plagiarism and similarity checking
Your document is compared against web pages, academic publications and journals. The similarity report lists every matching source and highlights the matching passages, so you can see exactly what needs a citation or a rewrite.
AI content detection
The same scan also checks how much of the text reads as AI-generated. The app shows the AI percentage next to the similarity score, and the separate AI report highlights the flagged passages. To learn how AI detection works, read our AI content detection guide.
PDF and Word support, up to 10 files at once
The app accepts PDF, DOCX, DOC, TXT and RTF files up to 100 MB each. You can add up to 10 files to one batch, which helps when you are checking several chapters or a set of student submissions.
Automatic language detection
As soon as you pick a file, the app detects its language. If it guesses wrong, you can choose from a searchable list of 196 languages.
Price shown before you scan
Before a scan starts, the app shows the word count, the language, the number of credits the scan needs and your current balance. Nothing is charged until you tap Start scan.
Notifications when a scan finishes
Scans usually finish in a few minutes. You can leave the app in the meantime; a notification arrives as soon as the report is ready. You can turn these off under Account → Notifications.
Search, filters and offline reports
The Reports tab lets you search by filename and filter by Completed, Processing or Failed. Reports you have opened are kept on the phone, so they still load when you are offline.
Light and dark mode
The app follows your phone's theme, or you can set it to always light or always dark under Account → Appearance.

What You Get: Reports & Certificate
Every completed scan shows the similarity score and AI score on the report screen, and gives you three PDFs:
- Plagiarism report – the overall similarity score, a list of matched sources and every matching passage highlighted. If you are not sure how to read it, see our guide on understanding similarity reports.
- AI report – how much of the text reads as AI-written, with the flagged passages highlighted. It sometimes arrives a few minutes after the plagiarism report.
- Certificate of originality – a certificate with both scores and a QR code that anyone can scan to verify it. Useful when a supervisor, journal or client asks for proof that the work was checked.
Tapping a button opens the PDF in your phone's PDF viewer. Share report opens Android's share sheet, so you can send the report by email or WhatsApp, or save it to Google Drive.
Pricing & Credits
The app is free to download. Scans use credits from your Red Paper account, the same credits you use on the website:
| Rule | Details |
|---|---|
| Credit usage | 1 credit per 250 words, rounded up |
| Minimum per document | 4 credits |
| Example | A 2,000-word essay costs 8 credits |
| Where to add credits | On the pricing page at checkplagiarism.ai |
| What is included | Plagiarism report, AI report and certificate from one scan |
| If a scan fails | Any credits held for it are refunded automatically |
The app does not take payments. If your balance is too low, it tells you how many credits you are short. Add them by signing in at checkplagiarism.ai, then submit the file again in the app.
Who It Is For
- Students – check an assignment, essay or thesis chapter before you submit it, even when your laptop is not with you.
- Researchers – run a similarity check on a manuscript a co-author just emailed you, before it goes to a journal.
- Teachers and examiners – check up to 10 submissions in one batch and review the scores from your phone.
- Authors, editors and publishers – check manuscripts on the move and share the certificate of originality straight from the app.
- Content writers and agencies – confirm that articles are original before you hand them to a client.
Privacy & Your Account
The app only opens the files you choose in the file picker. It does not read the rest of your phone's storage, and it shows no ads.
- Secure sign-in. Your sign-in key is kept in Android's encrypted secure storage, and everything is sent to Red Paper's servers over HTTPS.
- Logging out clears the phone. Logging out removes your saved reports and sign-in from the device.
- Your documents stay yours. Documents are handled under our privacy policy. We do not sell your documents or reuse your content.
- Account deletion. You can request deletion from Account → Delete account or through our delete account page.
App vs Website vs Extension vs ChatGPT
The Android app is one of several ways to use Red Paper. They all share one account and one credit balance, so you can mix them freely:
| Option | Best for | How you start a check |
|---|---|---|
| Android app | Checking files on your phone and getting notified when they are done | Scan tab in the app |
| Website | Full dashboard, batch uploads, buying credits | checkplagiarism.ai |
| Chrome extension | Frequent checks while you work in the browser | Toolbar popup |
| ChatGPT plugin | Checking files you are already working on in ChatGPT | Attach a file and ask in chat |
